Description

HIGHLAND PARK, IL – April 15, 2022 – Throughout the month of April, Kids Rank is the featured organization on the Ruth Fell Wander Community Art Wall at First Bank of Highland Park. The exhibit highlights the WE ARE RESILIENCE: Masks of Hope Project that explores the social and emotional health of military-connected youth while introducing young artists to color, design, and expression. Kids Rank, a local non-profit organization dedicated to military children, is using the display to highlight their programs and engagement with military children and youth. Founded in 2011, Kids Rank engages military-connected children and youth in hands-on, skill-building projects and volunteer opportunities designed to encourage resilience through the organization’s core pillars of CONNECT, LEAD, and SERVE. In the 2018-19 program year, 115 military children registered with Kids Rank; 300 Family members were engaged in the program(s), 15 organizations were served, and 1,970 volunteer hours were accrued. Kids Rank’s vision is to provide stability and support to military-connected children by nurturing social and emotional growth through connection, leadership, and community services. The first iteration of the WE ARE RESILIENCE: Masks of Hope Project, designed and facilitated by Kids Rank, launched in early 2020 and has grown into a traveling exhibition, educational arts catalog for partner schools and community organizations servicing military-connected youth, as well as a new nationally available curriculum kit to aid in the research and advocacy of the mental health of our military children. “Many military families feel disconnected from the communities that they are temporarily calling home. This is a big challenge that we are working to improve through military-connected youth programming,” says Kelcey Liverpool, Co-Founder & Executive Director of Kids Rank. By engaging our local friends, such as First Bank of Highland Park, we create a network of support for our families.” The Kids Rank exhibit is located in the bank lobby and will be open to the public during regular business hours throughout the month of April.
