Description

Press release from the Mecklenburg County Government: 4/18/2022 Description1 It's easier than ever to receive an at-home COVID-19 test kit in Mecklenburg County. By early March 2022, 15 rapid antigen COVID-19 tests had earned FDA emergency authorization for at-home use without a prescription. Using these tests frequently—for school attendance, before and after a large indoor gathering, prior to seeing a vulnerable person, before and after travel—can help lower the risk of spreading the virus. After a nationwide shortage, tests are now readily available. Here are some ways to get them at little or no cost to you: Mecklenburg County Public Health has free test kits available (while supplies last) at 7 library locations around the County, the Office of Vital Records, and the front desk of the Northwest and Southeast Health Department locations. Current information about the program, including the full list of distribution locations and hours, is available here. Every home in the United States may order up to 2 sets of 4 free at-home tests from the federal government. If you already ordered your first set (in January or February when the program first launched), you can now order a second set. Tests will be shipped to your household for free via the U.S. Postal Service. Order your tests here. You can also buy test kits online or in store from pharmacies and retail stores and use your insurance to get reimbursed. Many pharmacy locations including CVS and Walgreens will bill insurance so you can walk out of the store with test kits at no cost. Check your options for reimbursement here or contact your insurance company. Please visit mecknc.gov/covid-19 for up-to-date information about COVID-19, including current data, testing, vaccines, and treatment. Community members may also call the County's COVID-19 information hotline at 980-314-9400 (option 3).  ### FDA emergency authorization Order your tests here CVS This press release was produced by the Mecklenburg County Government.
