Marlborough Records First Coronavirus Death Since Early July

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough saw a slight uptick in coronavirus cases and deaths over the weekend, according to city officials. The city's pandemic death toll rose from 65 to 66 — the first coronavirus death reported in Marlborough since July 10. The number of active coronavirus cases also rose slightly from 27 to 29. The number of active cases has risen steadily in recent weeks. The number dipped to 12 on July 16, a low since the city began releasing regular case updates at the beginning of April. Active cases peaked on May 24 at 281. Active cases rose to 22 on July 22, and then rose to 30 a few days later. Marlborough is one of 17 communities around the state that is offering free coronavirus testing under the state's "Stop the Spread" campaign.
