Position: Irrigation Specialist Reports to: Grounds Maintenance Supervisor Location: El Dorado Hills, CA JOB SUMMARY: Maintaining an attractive, safe and pleasing environment for residents is of the utmost importance in delivering service to the community. This position is assigned to specific areas to perform and monitor irrigation systems & landscape maintenance. Customer service is primary, and associates must maintain a good relationship with the residents, co-workers and vendors. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS Manage Irrigation controllers and repair irrigation systems, including but not limited to: Irrigation controller programming Repair broken sprinklers Repair non-operational irrigation valves Repair broken irrigation pipes (laterals & main lines) Troubleshoot electrical problems Trace wire Work from written work orders and verbal instruction without direct supervision Interface with landscape contractors to provide direction as required Monitor & submit reports on landscape contractor performance Oversee & direct landscape construction projects, including plant Installation, turf renovation, bark installation, and header board repairs. Remove dead trees and plants as needed/approved Landscape installation and maintenance including trees, plants, shrubs, lawn, etc. Perform tree trimming as required Pull weeds and remove trash as needed Assist other staff members in their areas of responsibility as required Perform other tasks as required and directed SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES N/A QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. An ability to follow verbal and written directions, keep accurate records, fill out logs and journals, and perform administrative operational functions. Knowledge of the principles of landscaping and the use and maintenance of landscape tools Knowledge in irrigation maintenance and repairs Familiarity and comfort with the use of power tools including blowers, weed eaters, power washer, chainsaw, sprayer, etc. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED 2 years of experience in the landscape maintenance field and irrigation management and repair LANGUAGE SKILLS Proficient in speaking, reading and writing English as this position requires interfacing verbally with the public, residents, vendors, peers and supervisors. Ability to prepare written reports and complete log sheets. Bilingual Spanish helpful. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Excellent general math skills. REASONING ABILITY Ability to determine next level involvement for problem resolution. Must demonstrate good judgment. Ability to think and work independently as well as part of a team. Must be able to work well under pressure and deadlines, as well as work independently and prioritize time effectively. Ability to make decisions and solve problems creatively. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California State Driver's License and state mandated vehicle insurance. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work duties may require the ability to stand or walk on hard surfaces for frequent & prolonged periods of time Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard Work is performed in a variety of environmental conditions, with exposure to outdoor temperatures, weather variations, traffic & equipment noise, equipment vibrations, vehicle and/or chemical fumes, chemicals such as cleaning solvents & grease, machinery & their moving parts and dust. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics are normal maintenance/Landscape conditions. Consistent and regular attendance required. Exposure to dust, noise, paint and primer fumes, cleaning chemicals, pollens, and molds will be experienced. Some heavy lifting, standing, climbing. This position is an outdoor position. Applicant will be exposed to seasonal weather conditions which may include extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain. Monday through Friday schedule Competitive wages and benefits available
