MARLBOROUGH, MA — The MetroWest area is under a winter storm warning until 7 a.m. Tuesday, and Marlborough Public Schools have canceled classes Monday. The storm is expected to make travel extremely difficult across Massachusetts, especially because of the possibility of ice during the Monday morning commute. "Due to the inclement weather there will be no school today," Superintendent Michael Bergeron wrote on the district website Sunday night. The messy storm could drop more than 12 inches of snow in the area by Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. In general, areas north of the Mass Pike will get higher accumulations, according to forecasts. [Snow Accum Forecast] Accumulating snow will come in 2 parts. First part through just after midnight tonight, heaviest N of the Pike; Second part Mon night/Tue AM, heaviest eastern MA. We will update this story as soon as that information is available.
