MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough police will seek accreditation from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission this August. Marlborough has been accredited by the commission since 2017.
The accreditation commission is a private group that evaluates departments on hundreds of standards. Departments must pass 257 mandatory standards and 75 percent of 125 optional standards to attain accreditation.
The accreditation commission is made up of police department officials and union leaders from across the state.
About 93 police departments in Massachusetts have achieved accreditation, including nearby departments like Hopkinton, Framingham and Wayland.
Marlborough will begin the accreditation process beginning on Aug. 17 Lt. Robert Jusseaume.
