RIDGEFIELD, CT — The number of new coronavirus in Ridgefield, as in the rest of the state, is on the rise. First Selectman Rudy Marconi reported eleven new cases Friday, with the case rate increasing from 32.6 to 35.4 per 100,000 residents. "What that means is that we are averaging nine cases a day and we continue to climb," Marconi said. "On November 12, we were at 3.5 cases a day and as of today we have more than doubled that." The First Selectman said the town is working towards getting a coronavirus testing site established: "We understand the frustration everyone is feeling with the lack of testing options." In the interim, residents may find nearby out-of-town sites online on the state's website. The state Department of Public Health released new data Thursday showing that Ridgefield joined over 96 percent of Connecticut in the coronavirus red zone, those municipalities with 15 or more cases per 100,000 population, measured over two weeks. The state hit a milestone of 100,000 cases on Friday. After reporting 2,088 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Connecticut is 101,469. The statewide positivity rate reported on Friday was 6.63 percent.
