RIDGEFIELD, CT — New confirmed cases of the coronavirus at Ridgefield High School, Farmingville and Barlow Mountain schools have sent 106 students and 26 staff members into quarantine for 14 days. The schools' COVID-19 liaison, Aaron Crook, announced the RHS case on Monday. The case has resulted in the quarantine of 72 students and eight staff members. Nineteen members of the Farmingville community are on quarantine as a result of one case there. Fifteen students and three staff at Barlow Mountain Elementary School are in quarantine as a result of a case there announced Sunday night. Another 25 students and seven staff from Scotts Ridge Middle School are quarantining from a case announced there this past weekend, and a new COVID-19 case at Scotland Elementary School has placed four staff members and 11 students there under quarantine. Both Scotland and Scotts Ridge have been forced to transition to full distance learning "due to our inability to staff these two schools," Superintendent Susie Da Silva wrote in an email to families Sunday. "In addition to the concern over the health of the individuals impacted by COVID-19, the challenge of adequately staffing our schools is growing more difficult," Da Silva wrote.
