"Financing Your Growth" - with Jonny Price, VP of Fundraising for Wefunder, the largest platform for community round fundraising. The 90 minute session will cover a brief history of the crowdfunding industry, several business cases ranging from a local coffee shop to a large tech enterprise, 'how to' tactics for businesses interested in using equity crowdfunding, followed by a networking reception. This event is hosted by StartLab, a new program supporting startups from The Stamford Partnership, a public-private-partnership working to enhance the quality of life for those who live and work in Stamford, Connecticut. Jonny Price leads the fundraising team at Wefunder, who make it easier for founders to raise up to $5M in capital. Before Wefunder, Jonny founded and ran the U.S. team at Kiva.org, so he "knows a little about social enterprise and fintech, and a lot about Regulation Crowdfunding." Wefunder is a PBC and B Corp on a mission to save the American Dream. Wefunder uses a provision in the 2012 JOBS Act which allows non-accredited investors to purchase equity in early-stage private companies. Startups funded by Wefunder include Zenefits and GoldBelly.
