MARBLEHEAD, MA —Marblehead Selectman Judy Jacobi, who lead the push to restore Abbot Hall and Fort Sewall, died over the weekend. She was 80. "Her genuine kindness, deep concern for helping residents in need, and infectious, positive spirit made her an effective advocate for many causes in town," the other four members of the board said in a joint statement. The former teacher was raised in New Jersey but "we all know that Judy was a true Marbleheader through and through. There is nobody who has cared more for the town of Marblehead," the statement continued. Jacobi's husband, Gene, died in 2015. Jacobi was known for her handwritten notes and for being the first call constituents made when they had a problem. "We all have received calls from Judy starting with 'I've heard from many residents about....' This is the case because of her open and accessible approach to service on the Board of Selectmen and her genuine desire to help residents," the statement said.
