Description

Learn three different swirl techniques to make beautiful and colorful handmade soap! Learn three different swirl techniques to make beautiful and colorful handmade soap! In this three part series you will create beautiful and colorful soaps using a different swirl technique each week. These soaps will be made with gentle and simple ingredients. Your whole family can safely use them and you can confidently give them as gifts. Everyone loves handmade soap! Building on skills learned in the Intro to Cold Process Soap Making class students will weigh and mix a simple soap recipe and add their choice of fragrances and colors. Students will then learn how to prepare and pour the soap batter into a loaf mold using specific techniques to achieve each swirl pattern. At the end of each class students will take home their swirled soap which they can then cut into 6-8 bars revealing the beautiful color patterns! Class 1 In the Pot Swirl: This beginner friendly technique never fails to create beautiful random swirls. Class 2 Hanger swirl: This technique involves pouring layers of color into the mold and using a wire to pull the layers through each other creating a pattern in the soap. Class 3 Drop swirl: The “drop” pattern created by this technique is achieved by pouring colored soap batter through layers of different colors. The “drops” are revealed once the soap is cut into bars. Each participant will receive a 3lb capacity silicone soap mold which they will keep at the end of the series. This is a very hands on class using oils and caustic materials; please wear closed toe shoes, old clothes, and consider bringing an apron.
