MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead police closed an investigation into vandalism of a Black Lives Matter banner last month at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Mugford Street. "The matter has been referred to the Clerk-Magistrate of the Lynn District Court who will determine if there is probable cause for a criminal complaint to issue," police said in a statement Wednesday. No other details were released. The vandalism happened in the early-morning hours of June 28. Police released surveillance footage of a "person of interest" in the incident on July 9. Protesters have scheduled a march from Beverly City Hall to the church on Friday to protest the incident and a similar incident in Beverly.
