Sunday River Resort announced today the exciting update about an accelerated timeline for the new chairlift that will service its new Merrill Hill development. With construction beginning in 2021, Merrill Hill includes 23 mountain-top chairlift-serviced home sites perched atop a mountain between Sunday River’s South Ridge and Aurora Peak as well as 22 luxurious and convenient slope-side units at the Dream Maker Lodge. Merrill Hill’s new chairlift was originally scheduled to begin construction in Summer 2022, but last month Sunday River announced construction will in fact begin one year earlier – in Summer 2021. Now, the newest chairlift at Sunday River has been ordered and is currently on the way to Newry, Maine. It is a fixed grip triple chairlift from Doppelmayr, an Austrian lift manufacturer. It will be installed off of the Ridge Run trail between Merrill Hill lots 3 and 4. Of the 23 Merrill Hill lots available, there have been 13 Merrill Hill buyers lined up and who have paid the $20,000 refundable deposit to pick their specific lot next month, in January 2021. Merrill Hill now has a remaining nine lots available, including the recently-added lots 4 and 5, which are highly desirable and adjacent to the chairlift currently being installed. Lot 3 is not available to reserve at this time, but the lift line was recently cleared in preparation for lot 4 to be reserved. This development provides a truly unique opportunity that can’t be found anywhere else in the Northeast. Sunday River Resort opened on Monday, November 23, 2020 for the 2020-2021 season with resort operations completely adapted to ensure visitors’ and team members’ safety during COVID-19.
