The 2022 Imperial Valley Apologetics Conference with Jonathan Noyes will be on Saturday, May 21st at Christ Community Church IV - the El Centro Campus - 590 W. Orange Ave. El Centro, Ca. 92243. We are encouraging you to join us for this in-person event, but it will also be available by live streaming and on-demand for those unable to attend in person. Orange Ave. El Centro Ca. 92243 Website: www.ccciv.org/apologetics-conference Keynote Speaker: Jonathan Noyes, Stand to Reason Jonathan has worked as a speaker with Stand to Reason since 2019. A former atheist, Jonathan used to think belief in God was unwarranted and irresponsible. Then, after examining the evidence for Christianity he was faced with the fact that Jesus is who He says He is and the Christian worldview tells the true story of reality. Since then Jon has been passionate about engaging the culture with honest, well-thought-out reasons why people should trust the Christian worldview. Jon has developed a series of passionate talks to do just that. In 2013 Jonathan earned a master’s degree in Christian Apologetics from Biola University, graduating with honors. Jon brings a unique perspective to his audiences and the Stand to Reason team, having more than ten years of experience in the legal field and serving more than five as a pastor in his local church. Jon also serves on the board of directors for Life Without Limbs and at Beacon Hill Classical Academy, where he teaches discipleship. Conference Sessions: The Problem of Evil This was Jon’s nail in the coffin as he tried to persuade Christians to abandon religion and join him as an atheist. If God is so good, why is there so much evil? This is the question that has caused more people to struggle with their faith than any other. So much so it’s been called the “Rock of Atheism.” In this presentation Jon takes a look at the problem as it’s classically stated, showing that it’s not a problem for the Christian at all. Actually, it’s a problem for the skeptic. Atheism: Bumping Into Reality There are important details of the real world that atheists "bump into" all the time that make no sense in their materialistic world but fit perfectly into the Christian account of reality. In this talk, Jon describes his personal journey from atheism to Christianity. He explores the "bumps into reality" that led him to understand that Christianity is the best explanation for the way things really are. Reality. Intelligent Design: What It Is & Why It Matters Did you know that there are two to three times more atheists on college campuses than in the culture at large? Why do you think that is? In this talk, Jon first shows that Darwinism has permeated all areas of our lives, not just academia. From there, he helps you understand why that matters in practical ways. Finally, Jon points to a number of pieces of evidence that indicate the world around us is designed by an Intelligent Designer. In the process, we see where Darwinism has failed.
