Author and historian Jenninfer Sopko will give a presentaction on amusements parks of bygone days, including the trolley and railroad parks with origins tied to transportation; the first African-American-owned amusement park; and all of the parks’ classic amusement rides that thrilled countless people of all ages. Sopko will be sharing history and images of some of the long-gone recreation spots around Northwestern Pennsylvania, including Monarch Park between Oil City and Franklin, Mystic Park and Fieldmore Springs in Titusville, Cascade Park in New Castle, Rock Point Park near Ellwood City, Perkins Park in Cambridge Springs, Oakwood Park in Meadville and Four Mile Creek Park in Erie. We'll also talk about some of the organs in the DeBence museum's collection that once delighted listeners at amusement parks around the region. Free admission. Donations appreciated.
