EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — A man who went out for a morning ride on Tuesday was found seriously injured on the side of the road in East Patchogue and his bike his now missing, Suffolk cops say.
The 53-year-old left his home on his black and grey mountain bike at about 5:40 a.m. on Tuesday, said police, adding that he was found about 10 minutes later lying on the side of the westbound lane of Montauk Highway, about one-quarter mile east of Route 101. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries "consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle," police said.
His bicycle has not been found, police said.
The man's name, as well as other details, have not been released by police.
