Description
NORTHPORT, NY — Raina, a calico around 3-and-a-half years old, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cat of the Week.
"Raina was found wandering in a kind neighbor's back yard, sad, lonely, confused and hungry," Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue, said. "She was so sweet, it was though she must have a home, but after many attempts to find her family, sadly Raina found herself homeless."
Raina remained with the neighbor who found her for a while, but she did not get along with the woman's cats, according to Wild. Raina now resides in the cat rescue's habitats at Doggie Dons in East Northport.
She dislikes every minute of being in a cage, but loves every moment a volunteer comes up to pet her, brush her, hold her and give her some love.
"As the cage door is shut, she curls up and looks so sad," Wild said. "She loves visitors and will come down to say hello to anyone willing to give her a kind word. She is very sweet and quite beautiful. Although she should be an only cat, we think she is all a family would need. She is not timid or scared of people at all, she just wants to be home again, safe and loved."
Raina is spayed, has all her shots, is litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
