NEW YORK CITY — Seven train lines were delayed or rerouted Wednesday morning as the MTA coped with activated breaks, signal problems and an NYPD investigation. The 3 line ran on "extremely limited" service between New Lots and Crown Heights-Utica avenues to allow police to conduct an investigation at the Brownsville station on Sutter Avenue and Rutland Road, the MTA announced about 7 a.m. The MTA rerouted 4 trains to the local line between Crown Heights-Utica Avenue and the Barclays Center in both directions to help mitigate the delays. Commuters on the F and G trains also saw delays after the MTA moved trains that had brakes activated at Carroll and Smith-Ninth streets in Brooklyn just before 8 a.m Metropolitan Ave-bound M trains ran along the E line from Fifth Avenue and 53rd Street to West Fourth Street-Washington Square so the MTA could address a switch problem in the midtown station, the MTA said about 8:20 a.m. Southbound C and E trains saw delays as the lines share a track with rerouted trains, the MTA said.
