Press release from the City of New Orleans: April 14, 2022 NEW ORLEANS — The Mayor's Neighborhood Engagement Office (NEO) will host its second Neighborhood Cares Day on Saturday, April 23. The event will take place in Algiers at the Donsereaux/Harrison Playground (1138 Odeon St.) from 9 a.m. to noon. City departments, residents, churches, schools and businesses in Algiers will come together to beautify and clean the neighborhood. Residents will also be able to enjoy free food and music, free COVID-19 tests and vaccines, job opportunities, a resource fair and more. Volunteers will have an opportunity to 'lend their hands' to make improvements to several items in the interior and exterior areas of Donsereaux/Harrison Playground. This includes but is not limited to: installation of playground benches, painting the clubhouse, and fence improvements. Volunteers can also help beautify the neighborhood by removing litter/debris in Donsereaux/Harrison playground and surrounding streets. Volunteer check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., and the event begins at 9 a.m.. Food and beverage will be provided to all volunteers!
