WHEATON, IL — Cantigny Park visitors can get nostalgic and step into the past in May, with a live radio adaptation of "The Wizard of Oz." The free show will be presented May 7 and May 8 in partnership with Robert McCormick House. The hour-long adaptation follows the adventures of Dotty, a Chicago journalist, after she gets swept up in a tornado and whisked to the Land of Oz. Audience members will recognize many beloved characters from "The Wizard of Oz" during this adaptation, which is set in the 1920s. The show features Nicole Borowski, Jameyrae Swetman, John Bihun, Joe Ascenso and Will Buhlig, who is moonlighting from his role as Director of Operations at Cantigny Park. Inspired by the "Chicago Theatre of the Air," which debuted in 1940 on WGN, the "Wizard of Oz" presentation pays homage to WGN founder and Cantigny Park benefactor Colonel Robert R. McCormick.
