NORRISTOWN, PA — Police across Montgomery County are ready to collect all unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications as part of Drug Take Back Day, organized by the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office and the Police Chiefs Association of Montgomery County. The event runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 30 with 29 collection sites across Montgomery County, including at police departments, grocery stores, an elementary school and a public library. "Since 2010 when this Drug Take Back program started in Montgomery County, we have collected and safely disposed of approximately 98,000 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter medicines," District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said. Steele said getting drugs out of homes help save overdoses. This year, the county hopes top collect more than 100,000 pounds of medication. Residents are asked to put the pills in Ziploc baggie and drop it off at a participating police department. The accepted drugs include over-the-counter tablets and capsules, inhalers, creams, ointments, nasal sprays, pet medicines and vaping products.
