ELMHURST, IL – Both Republican candidates for DuPage County chairman have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to their latest financial reports. As of March 31, the campaign for Greg Hart of Hinsdale had $577,000 in the bank, more than the $498,000 for Pete DiCianni of Elmhurst. In the last quarter, Hart, a County Board member, raised $122,000 and spent $71,000. (David Giuliani/Patch) At the same time, DiCianni, a County Board member and former Elmhurst mayor, pulled in $$78,000 and spent $12,000. State Sen. John Curran, R-Downers Grove, was among Hart's contributors, donating $1,000. DiCianni's donors in the last quarter include three Elmhurst restaurants and bars – Doc's Victory Tap ($250), Pazzi de Pizza ($1,000) and Roberto's Ristorante ($2,500). The candidates are running in the June 28 Republican primary. They are vying to succeed Dan Cronin, R-Elmhurst, who has led the board for a dozen years. Cronin endorsed Hart. State Rep. Deb Conroy, D-Villa Park, is the lone candidate from her party for chairman.
