WOODBURY, MN — More than a dozen runners from the Woodbury area completed the 2022 Boston Marathon on Monday morning, making their 26.2-mile journey from Hopkinton to the famed Boylston Street finish line. Ten Woodbury-area runners were racing in the Boston Marathon for the second time in six months, after the 2021 Boston Marathon was pushed from its traditional April date to October due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Woodbury Honors 'Brilliant Attorney,' 'Fierce Advocate' Pete Orput The 2020 Boston Marathon was postponed before being canceled, the first time the race didn't take place in its 125-year history. The Boston Athletic Association reduced the field for the 2021 marathon in October, with less than 20,000 runners competing. The field was back to about 30,000 runners Monday.
