Mansfield Fire Department Responds To Basement Blaze

MANSFIELD, MA—The Mansfield Fire Department responded to a fire that broke out in the basement of a home at 3 Farm Pond Path early Saturday morning and left some damages to the building but no injuries to the occupants. According to a press release from the Mansfield Fire Department, the homeowner called 911 at 2:23 a.m. saying her house was on fire. By the time the first engine company arrived, the two residents had evacuated. The fire was extinguished with minimal damage to the property and the scene was secured at 5:39 a.m. "The fire was quickly extinguished thanks to the early detection of the fire by the smoke alarms, the quick activation of 911 by the resident, and the quick work by the firefighters," the statement said. "We were able to keep the damage caused by the fire to a minimum and everyone got out of the house safely." The fire is not considered suspicious, but the exact cause of the blaze remains under investigation. The residents are not yet able to return to the home. Fire departments from Foxborough, Norton, and Easton, Mansfield Police, the Mansfield Emergency Management Agency, and the Mansfield Municipal Electric Department assisted at the scene and helped to cover the station.
