RICHFIELD, MN — Tech giant Best Buy is launching a recycling program for major appliances this month. The standalone, haul-away service costs $200 and is limited to two large appliances.
The Richfield-based company said that "once picked up, all products are then responsibly and safely recycled."
"Just a click away, anyone in the U.S. can now request pickup and recycling for old electronics, keeping tech, including appliances, out of landfills and giving it a second life."
Best Buy already recycles some smaller tech items for free. Customers can schedule the haul-away service online here.
"We feel we have an important role to play in helping our planet, including being there for the entire lifecycle of a product – from the time a customer starts shopping until that product is responsibly recycled," said Tim Dunn, Best Buy's head of environmental sustainability, in a news release.
"This new service will make this important work even more convenient for customers."
