MAPLE GROVE, MN — Authorities on Tuesday identified the victim of a fatal shooting Sunday in Maple Grove as a 61-year-old man from Buffalo. William Floyd Haire died at 4:53 p.m. Sunday at North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale, about two hours after he was shot in the abdomen, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office said. He was shot amid a possible road rage incident. Maple Grove police said Haire was shot during an "altercation between two motorists" near County Road 30 and Garland Lane. Witnesses there said a driver fired a gun toward another car before both fled the area, according to police. Officers found Haire suffering from a gunshot wound in a car nearby. He was taken to the hospital in Robbinsdale, where he died, police said. The Maple Grove Police Department said Sunday that officers are investigating "several leads" and asked anyone who has information or saw the shooting to call Detective Wilson Maiers at 763-494-6246.
