DEKALB COUNTY, GA — A Dunwoody home daycare center owner has been charged with murder in the case of a four-month-old baby's death and other child abuse charges. A DeKalb County grand jury indicted Amanda Hickey, 46, with second degree murder, seven counts of first-degree cruelty to children, three counts of battery and several other charges announced DeKalb County District Attorney Tuesday in a news release. Hickey was the owner of Little Lovey Daycare. According to the release, a four-month-old baby boy was found unresponsive in his crib on Feb. 3, 2021. The baby had been placed on his stomach to sleep and left unattended for more than two hours. Other charges are related to abuse against six other victims in the daycare center ranging in age from six months to 16 months old. The daycare was licensed for up to six children, but investigators found the center nearly double its capacity. The case will be assigned to a DeKalb County Superior Court Judge and later set for trial.
