Here are the top 3 stories in Mobile today: Local animal advocates attended the Mobile City Council meeting this Tuesday and voiced their concerns about a dog currently tied to a fence on Halls Mill Road. Advocates point out marks on the dog's neck from the collar rubbing her skin raw. The women believe that the owner is violating the city's animal tethering ordinance by leaving the dog outside alone for so long and that animal control is not making an effort to protect the dog. The city stated animal control officers have visited and inspected the home recently, and are conducting an ongoing investigation into the situation. (UTV 44) Proponents for at least four majority-minority seats on the Mobile City Council took to prayer on Tuesday, as a result of the uncertainty of the circumstances regarding Mobile's "divisive" redistricting. A vigil took place inside the Government Plaza atrium with the mission of bringing awareness to the city's ongoing redistricting. The dueling maps have the potential to be racially motivated in Mobile when they are slated to come before the full council for a final vote in June. Residents who have been consistently attending council meetings hope to see the final map reflect the demographic switches in Mobile. According to Fred Pierce with Wildlife Solutions, there are some household fixes you can take, like making sure there's no standing water outside.
