EVERETT, MA — An Everett man was arrested after he threw a can of hard seltzer near the San Antonio Spurs' bench during the Boston Celtics game Wednesday night, according to police. Justin Arnold, 22, was charged with disturbing a public assembly. Police said Arnold appeared to be intoxicated when he was escorted out of the Garden.
Video shows the can of Truly hard seltzer hitting the court as the crowd "started to scrutinize the refs for what appeared to be a terrible call against the Celtics," police told WHDH. The can came narrowly close to hitting a Spurs player, just missing him by a "few inches," authorities said.
The incident happened around 8:30 p.m., according to police. Celtics coach Brad Stevens told reporters he apologized to Spurs coach Gregg Popovich after the game.
Arnold was arrested based on surveillance footage and accounts from nearby fans. He was held without bail Thursday after a judge found he had a warrant for his arrest in a separate case, according to the Boston Globe.
