At Vestra Education we are passionate about learning outside of the classroom! We create learning programs to help students exercise critical and creative thinking, problem solving, communication, and many other skills that we all need to be successful in our careers.
We are looking for Mentors to work with high school students in our leadership program; someone who wants to impact their lives by sharing their experiences and inspiring them for the future.
Job responsibilities:
• Assist students in the preparation of their final project mentoring them along the process
• Keep students engaged in each visit asking for their opinion, giving them advice, assisting them with any questions, and asking challenging questions to ensure learning
• Discuss with students the site visits (e.g.; Lab, workshop and historical visits) that we do, summarizing them in the end and asking questions to ensure that students learned from the experience
• Be a leader and warrant that the group is always together and interacting with each other
• Motivate, empower and encourage students to be their best
• Be ready to learn alongside students being a good listener
Qualifications:
• Know how to motivate students through conversations and sharing of experiences
• Ability to work in collaboration with other mentors and program director
• Ability to be always on time and direct his/her group in a timely manner
• Leadership experience preferred
• Previous experience working with young students preferred, but not required
• College students or 2022 graduates
Dates of the sessions (when mentors have to work):
July 1 – July 13 AND July 17 – July 31
(mentors can choose to work during one or both sessions)
Hours: most of the days 12:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Compensation: $17 per hour plus perks including all activities, meals, events that the group participates.
All Mentors will have to go through a criminal background check including CORI & SORI
