Description
She is a blue/white cichlid about 3 inches long and I think fully grown that just recently had babies(not my intention). I got into fish keeping about 6 months ago and have a 55 gallon tank that started with 5 cichlids then added 3 more about a month ago for a total of 8(they are the smaller cichlids a mix of some yellow labs, red blotched zebras, one albino, etc). About 2 weeks ago the blue cichlid stopped eating and I noticed one of the fish had white stringy poop with a recessed stomach forming. I quickly moved the blue cichlid into a 10 gallon hospital tank and medicated both tanks for parasites and antibiotics in their food. All I saw her eat is the algae that grew on one of the tank decorations then this morning we found 1 baby fish, assume she ate the rest over night. All the fish are healthy and eating again but I am not trying to get into fish breeding. In an effort to keep the 1 baby fish alive I've moved the female back in with the males(which I don't want to do but she was about to eat the other baby). The most dominate male(red blotched zebra) is back at the cichlid courting ritual, which involves him spitting sand everywhere trying to form a cave for fry(eggs).
