The Albany Pet Hotel is seeking additional Animal Care Handlers to join our team! The perfect candidate is someone who is a HUGE animal lover, enjoys working with and caring for pets, isn't turned away by copious amounts of cleaning, and is reliable, dependent, detail oriented, and eager to learn. The Albany Pet Hotel offers boarding, daycare, and grooming services for a mirage of pets. We primarily provide care for dogs, but welcome cats, birds, and small animals, as well. Safety and sanitation is our #1 goal as we strive to continuously improve and grow our establishment. While desirable, we do not require previous professional animal care experience, making this an excellent opportunity if you have ever wanted to further your career working with animals! Shift & Scheduling: This is a full-time position (35-40 hours per week) with opportunity for overtime during our busy seasons. Shifts start as early as 6:30am and end as late as 6:30pm (or until all closing tasks are complete). Animal Care Handlers are scheduled 9.5 hour shifts (1 hour lunch breaks during the middle of the day) working 5 days on and 2 consecutive days off. Weekend availability is a huge plus, and holiday availability is an absolute must as we operate 365 days a year. Job Tasks and Responsibilities: -Handle a variety of dogs, cats, and small animals varying in age, size, breed, and temperament -Demonstrate safely leash walking dogs throughout the facility and in our designated play areas -Thoroughly clean and sanitize kennels, play yards, indoor play areas, and other areas of the facility -Supervise play groups of +20 dogs in our outdoor play yards and indoor play areas -Provide one-on-one playtime and potty breaks for dogs that don't participate in group activities -Appropriately and efficiently help handle any medical emergencies as needed -Help conduct temperament tests/evaluations for new daycare and boarding dogs -Help hold/restrain dogs for vaccine administration, first-aid, and grooming services as needed -Prepare meals for boarding and daycare guests -Clean dishes, wash and fold laundry, mop, sweep, and help with other janitorial tasks -Help tackle projects around the facility as needed -Demonstrate excellent teamwork skills as well as complete tasks alone in a proficient manner Job Perks & Benefits: -Health insurance after 60 days (100% paid for by company) -Dental insurance after 60 days (50% paid for by company, 50% paid for by employee) -1 week of Paid Time Off after 1 year of employment -Holiday pay (hourly wage + 50%) on recognized holidays -Consistent scheduling (5 days on, 2 consecutive days off) with the exception of vacations, appointments, and other prior engagements -FREE boarding and daycare for all employee pets!
