NORWICH, CT — State public health officials are investigating a COVID-19 outbreak at Backus Hospital that they believe is linked to an earlier outbreak at Three Rivers Healthcare, according to The Day. The earlier outbreak at the nursing home involved 21 cases and three deaths. A Backus nurse tested positive and said nine staff members in her unit also tested positive, according to The Day. Hartford HealthCare, which operates the hospital, claims that the outbreak at Backus has been contained.
