Seeking to rehome Neutered male Catahoula Leopard dog

Description

This super affectionate dog was deserted by his second owner in February after his first owner died of Covid. We have been trying to find him a new home since then. My friend and I both have very small dogs and we don’t have the strength to deal with a large dog 60 lb dog that is very active. (I’m in my 70’s.) He will be three years old in May and he is up to date on all his shots, though he is due for his rabies shot in May. He has been Heartworm tested and is negative and on preventative medication. I will be glad to cover the cost of his rabies shot. His name is Brutus, but also responds to Booty. Although we are discouraged from offering pets free to good homes, I would consider giving him to the right owner who can provide letters of recommendation from their current or prior vets. Otherwise I will charge a rehoming fee to prevent him being used for dog fighting or medical research. He does not deserve that fate. I am also willing to transport him to his new home and provide his harnesses, collars, and the electronic training collar we purchased for him. He is good with other dogs, though he does tend to be excited and accidentally treads on the 11 lb dog.
