MALDEN, MA — A longtime Malden resident was recently honored by the city for turning 100 years old. Mayor Gary Christenson presented Alfred Contreas with a citation in recognition of the milestone. Christenson stopped by the home was Contreas shares with his wife of 55 years, Helen. What's Contreas's secret to a long and healthy life? He told the mayor "keeping peace with his wife" is what keeps him young.
