DRUMMER - play with a group just for fun?

Seeking a drummer who is up for getting together on alternating Sunday afternoons to make music purely for the fun of it. And no need to lug all your gear - we've got our own drum rig already set-up, so all you'd need to do is show up! We're mostly a bunch of older coots who like playing the earlier rock and popular stuff. (Think CCR, Eagles, Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Marshall Tucker, Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, Beatles and most of the other usual suspects.) So, while we absolutely do not age-discriminate, the older you are, the better! The COVID thing had us shut down for quite a while, but now we are starting back up and we're in need of someone who will come and play on our 'house' rig - a Yamaha DTX-502 outfit. We've got a really decent space in an old refurbished commercial building near both Deep Ellum and The Cedars arts districts, close to downtown Dallas. A typical session sees us with multiple guitars, keys and a bass, sometimes a sax, a mandolin, a violin and several vocalists. We work with a play list of titles that generally are old rock or popular songs, going all the way back to the 60s, as chosen by our singers. We do not do gigs and we are not looking to 'start a band' - it really is all about fun. Our group does include a few old pros, but most of us are just regular folks who appreciate being able to play/sing with others - and we are all just trying to improve our chops. We start playing at 1:30 and usually wrap by about 5:30 or so, with breaks in between. It is all very casual and there are no commitments or obligations involved with participation. Folks are free to join us when they can and we just go with who's shown up. This also means that our makeup of instruments and vocalists can vary a bit from week to week.
