As a full-time Soldier, you'll acquire knowledge and develop skills that you didn't know you had. These are assets that will serve you for the rest of your life. To enlist, you have to be between 17 and 34 years of age, and if you qualify you could receive the following: o Up to $85,000 for college o Up to 100% tuition assistance with a maximum benefit of up to $4,000 per year. o Specialized training in one of more than 150 Army careers. Army Reserve To be part of the Army Reserve, you must be between 17 & 34 years of age. Upon qualifying as a Soldier, you'll receive training in one of the more than 120 specialized careers. You will also serve part-time near your home and get excellent benefits, plus: o Up to $24,000 for college o An extra paycheck o Up to 100% tuition assistance Other Benefits Room and Board Provided (Active Duty)- Single Soldiers are provided with improved dorm rooms with complete privacy. If you're married, you may choose to move you and your family to a housing community on post at zero cost, or opt to receive the Basic Allowance for Housing entitlement. Vacation- Active Duty Soldiers earn 30 days of paid vacation per year. Army Reserve Soldiers are also eligible under certain circumstances. Recreation Centers- Army posts have a variety of recreational facilities where you can spend your free time relaxing, watching a movie, or polishing your jump shot on the basketball court. You'll also find swimming pools and libraries. Medical & Dental- As a Soldier, you receive medical and dental care. Army Reserve Soldiers are also eligible under certain circumstances. Enlistment Bonuses- Once you've enlisted, you could receive an enlistment bonus of up to $50,000. Montgomery GI Bill & Army College Fund- The Montgomery GI Bill and the Army College Fund are two of the options to help you pay for your college, available simply by enlisting in the U.S. Army. College Loan Repayment Program- If you qualify to serve in the Army, you'll be able to repay college loans that you may have acquired previously using the college loan repayment program. Earn College Credits When You Join the Army- If you attend college and serve in the Army, whether full-time or part-time, you can have access to programs at renowned colleges and technical schools that offer classes to Army Soldiers. You will also receive college credits for training you receive as a Soldier. Remember that in the Army, you'll find more than 150 options to start your career and benefits that you'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else.
