NORWICH, CT — A Norwich man has been sentenced to three years in prison for his role in a drug trafficking ring, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Earlene Dudley Jr., 39, will also serve three years of supervised release. His case is related to a law enforcement investigation into drug and gun dealing in southeastern Connecticut. The investigation revealed that Ramel General worked closely with the leader of a drug trafficking network, distributing cocaine for the organization and maintaining an apartment in New London that the organization used to deal drugs. Dudley regularly purchased distribution quantities of cocaine from General and sold the drug to his own customers, according to prosecutors. A search of General's New London apartment Feb. 21, 2019, revealed more than 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, more than 350 grams of heroin, and 10 guns. Dudley, General, and 22 other people were indicted March 5, 2019, in a Hartford court. Dudley pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute cocaine Sept. 30, 2019. General pleaded guilty to a related charge and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
