Multimedia artist Kazua Melissa Vang shares her cultural knowledge about Hmong families through the art of photography. Please join In Progress artist Kazua Melissa Vang for a workshop intensive that explores the art of photography in telling family histories. Melissa will present images and speak to the approaches she takes to photographing every day life, cultural events, ceremonies, and intimate, rarely shared moments. SATURDAY, APRIL 23: 1 - 4 PM THE ART OF PORTRAITURE Hands on learning activity, presentation and play. Vang shows her artwork and discusses her artistic approach and then leads participants through a hands on photography activity. SATURDAY, APRIL 23: 6 - 9 PM EXHIBIT HANG AND TALK IP artists Kazua Melissa Vang and Morgen Arguelles will lead a curatorial process to review Vang's newest exhibit images and determine placement and flow. SUNDAY, APRIL 24: 11AM - 2PM THE ART OF PORTRAITURE Hands on learning activity, presentation and play continue with review of photo assignments and discussion of the presented exhibit. This workshop is made possible through the generous support of the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council, the McKnight Foundation, the Propel Foundation and the Minnesota State Arts Board. Preserve is an exhibit produced as part of Art In The Present Moment, a program of the Saint Paul and Minnesota Foundation.
