On May 12, Paramount Recreation Club is teaming up with Milam & Greene Whiskey Distillery to spill our best mixology secrets in a masterclass to teach you the tricks of the trade to bring your favorite drinks to life anytime, anywhere. Marsha Milam will guide attendees through a whiskey tasting and mixology class featuring Milam & Greene Whiskey and her expert take on what's in your glass. MEET THE MASTER: MARSHA MILAM, FOUNDER After a career in media, pubic relations and entertainment in Austin, TX Marsha Milam decided to dive headlong into the spirits industry. Specifically, she is the founder of Milam & Greene Distillery in Blanco, TX. She attended her first distilling class in Jan. of 2015, ordered a German-made pot still, bought two tree-shaded acres in the small town of Blanco in the Texas Hill Country, and by December 2016 had opened her own distillery to produce a quality bourbon and rye. By 2018 Milam Bourbon was in the top 10% of all bourbons sold in the state of Texas. Her products have won the coveted Double Gold Award at the prestigious World Spirits Competition in San Francisco, CA the last five years running. Milam & Greene Port Finished Rye recently received at 97 from The Wine Enthusiast and won the Craft Distillers of American “Best of Show” Award. Ms. Milam has always considered herself a “from the ground up” person. She was the first PR and Marketing Director for the Austin-based chain of Chuy’s restaurants, the co-founder of The Austin Film Festival, the creator of the immensely popular live music series held in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio and El Paso. Milam & Greene Whiskey is now distributed in Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, New York, Conn., Georgia, Florida and California. Marsha currently sits on the boards of The Austin Film Festival, the Clifford Antone Foundation, Texas Advocacy Project and H.O.M.E which provides housing assistance to aging musicians. -- Ticket includes all tools and ingredients for three tastes/cocktails and instruction.
