Shrewsbury Will Get $500K From State For Road Repairs

SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury will get about a half a million dollars in extra funding to repair roadways this year, according to state Rep. Hannah Kane (R-Shrewsbury). The money is coming from the state's Winter Recovery Assistance Program. Shrewsbury's $500,080 allotment is based off the number of road miles in town. The WRAP program differs from other state road infrastructure funding sources, like Chapter 90. The WRAP money will be given to the town up front instead of as a reimbursement, and can be used for items like resurfacing roads, replacing traffic lights and signs and adding guardrails and storm drains. The funding was solidified after Gov. Charlie Baker signed a supplementary spending bill in April. About $100 million from that bill was set aside for WRAP funding for cities and towns across the state.
