Description

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich resident and Democrat Rachel Khanna will run for state representative in the 149th House District. According to the Greenwich Time, Khanna filed with the state recently to challenge Republican state Rep. Kimberly Fiorello, who has served in the position since 2020. Prior to Fiorello, Livvy Floren, a Republican, represented the district for several terms. The 149th House District covers North Greenwich, the western portion of North Stamford and Stamford's Westover/Roxbury neighborhoods. "Rachel is an entrepreneur and small business owner who will fight to protect voting rights, women's rights, and advocate for policies that will grow Connecticut's economy and combat climate change," the Stamford Democratic Party said in a Facebook post last weekend. The Time reported that Khanna, a former member of the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting, has formed a campaign committee, and will participate in Connecticut's Citizens Elections Program.
