LYNNFIELD, MA — Lynnfield fire crews had a busy start to the weekend, with two fires starting just hours apart on Friday. The first fire was called into the department just after 2:30 p.m. A brush fire was reported on Route 128 at Exit 28 as well as on Alexandra Road. Lynnfield crews were helped by Wakefield firefighters who sent an engine and established a water supply to douse the flames. The second fire was called to the station just before 7:30 p.m. for a home on North Way. The fire quickly grew to two alarms by the time crews got to the home, officials said. It was quickly put out and prevented from spreading to the rest of the home. No one was home but Lynnfield and North Reading fire crews were able to rescue the family dog that was inside. Officials said the dog is doing fine. The cause of the fire is unclear.
