Get up early to join experienced birders Education Director Rich Capitan and Lead Educator Taylor Cherry on a birding walk through the zoo!
We are excited for the return of migratory birds to Alaska! In honor of World Migratory Bird Day held on May 14th, 2022 both around the world and at the Alaska Zoo, we are offering an early morning guided birding walk at the zoo with experienced birders Education Director Rich Capitan and Lead Educator Taylor Cherry. Join them bright and early at 6:00am on a walk through the zoo's wooded trails which go back to the creek and pond area. Bring your binoculars and get ready to bird!
Minimum age for this guided birding walk is age 10. We are limiting capacity for this event to 15 people per guide (so two groups of 15).
Important note: Participants should bring their own binoculars, field guides (if needed) and dress for the weather conditions as well as possible wet areas on the zoo's gravel trails. Participants should gather outside of the zoo entrance at 5:45am. Staff will meet the group at 6:00am to begin.
