NAPERVILLE, IL — Local high school students are welcome to take part in the Naperville Police Department Youth Academy, a free six-week course that helps teens understand how their local police department functions. Police officers will teach participants about investigations, K-9 officers, forensics and more to give them a sneak peek of how things work behind the scenes at the police department. Students must meet the following criteria to attend: Be a current high school student or be set to enter high school in fall 2022 Live or attend high school in NapervilleBe a student in good standing Have no criminal contactsHave permission from parents to participate Have transportation to and from Naperville Police Department The academy kicks runs June 16 through July 21 and will be held on Thursday nights at the Naperville Police Department, 1350 Aurora Ave., Naperville.
