Press release from the City of Millbrae: April 15, 2022 We are excited to announce our upcoming City of Millbrae Citizens Academy scheduled to begin on May 21, 2022 and conclude on July 9, 2022. The Citizens Academy is designed to help Millbrae residents 18 years and over learn about their city government. This academy provides an excellent opportunity for the community to become familiar with the various functions and services of local government. Participants will hear presentations from the various City Departments about their respective operations. Participants can benefit from unique interactive learning and a behind-the-scenes experience. The Academy's goals include increasing municipal knowledge of our city residents, encouraging civic engagement, and preparing participants for community service in a variety of roles including appointed and elected officials. Participants will become better informed about the role and structure of local government, how municipal decisions are made, how funds are allocated, and how departments operate. The Citizens Academy will include six sessions and will culminate with a graduation ceremony during which participants will receive a certificate. To be eligible for graduation, participants will be required to attend all six sessions. Enrollment information will be available Friday, April 22, 2022.
