Welcome back, Long Beach; today is National Lima Bean Respect Day! Here's everything you need to know to get this Wednesday started off right. Here's what's going on today in town. Did it take the LBPD a long time to respond to a call of a man exposing himself to the female patrons of an East LB hair salon? Also, whipping out a gun when cops are on the scene is never a good idea. Finally, what is the LB Male Community Reentry Program? First, today's weather: Mostly sunny. High: 67 Low: 53. Here are the top five stories today in Long Beach: On Saturday afternoon, a man spent a good half hour exposing himself to the staff and patrons at the Static Salon. "Salon staff said the man did not appear to be homeless and initially asked for a haircut and then waited outside on a chair." The staff called 9-1-1. "The man left the salon after 30 minutes — 10 minutes before police arrived." The PD didn't have immediate answers on what caused the delay in responding. (Fox)SWAT rolled on Sunday afternoon to the area of West 20th Street and Cedar Avenue. Officers received reports of a 23-year-old man with a gun. "When police arrived at the residence, the suspect's partner said she'd gotten into an argument with the suspect, who then physically hit her, pointed the gun at her, and fled." He was eventually "arrested and booked on suspicion of one count of inflicting corporal injury, one count of making death threats, and one count of assault with a deadly weapon." (LB Post) Did you know that there's such a thing as the Long Beach Male Community Reentry Program? We learned on Monday that it "gives eligible offenders who are incarcerated in state prison the chance to serve the end of their sentences in the reentry center. While there, they are also connected with social services, rehabilitation resources, and mental health care to help the inmates reintegrate into society in hopes that they avoid re-offending." (KTLA) The L.A. Winefest is making a return to the City. It "will be returning to the Harry Bridges Memorial Park at the Long Beach Harbor with unlimited pours of wine, beer, and other libations June 4 and 5." There will also be food trucks. By the way, "designated drivers can enter the festival for $20 and will have access to all the free bottled water, coffee, small bites, and the festival experience." (The HiLo) The official start of summer might still be a couple of months away, but don't tell that to the organizers of this Sunday afternoon's concert.
