Leo Buscaglia, Author According to the American Society on Aging more than 65 million people in the United States provide care for chronically ill, disabled or aged family members or friends during any given year. We often do not see the tired eyes or the chaos in the house of a stressed-out caregiver who may just smile through the challenges of care giving. We encourage you to take a moment to thank, appreciate, and lend a hand to caregivers that you know. Resources for Family Caregivers Lexington Senior Services has published a comprehensive Resource Guide for Caregivers, with links to service providers, government agencies and other resources to help you care for your family member. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides Disability & Health Information for Family Caregivers. This includes a Complete Care Plan fillable form you can complete and print to ensure that you have all of the information on the person being cared for in one place. Respite Program for Lexington Family Caregivers Our Lexington Senior Services staff understand and see daily the toll care giving takes on our patrons and wonder how we can help. We were granted limited funding from the Dana Home Foundation to pilot a financial respite program for Lexington caregivers seeking temporary relief from the continuous support and care of an elderly or disabled adult. This program is designed for caregivers who would not be able to afford respite services on their own.
