COLUMBUS, OH —Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine's office provided an update Monday on the health of the governor, who announced he had tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. The office also revealed that Ohio's First Lady Fran DeWine has been "diagnosed with COVID-19 by per personal physician." According to the governor's office, Mike DeWine continues to have mild symptoms, which have not worsened since it was announced that he had tested positive. On Friday, the governor's office said DeWine was experiencing a runny nose, headache, body aches and a sore throat Fran DeWine, meanwhile, is experiencing symptoms similar to her husband and has received monoclonal antibody treatment, according to the administration. "Both the Governor and First Lady DeWine continue to quarantine at home pursuant to guidelines," the governor's office said in a statement. DeWine's office said both the governor and first lady are fully vaccinated, each having received a two-dose vaccination and booster shot. On Friday, DeWine's office announced that the governor had been diagnosed with COVID-19 by his personal physician and that DeWine had received a monoclonal antibody treatment that evening. At the time, Fran DeWine was not experiencing any symptoms and had tested negative, according to the governor's office. News 5 in Cleveland reported that Mike DeWine previously tested positive in 2020, but that he did not have any symptoms and later tested negative. It was believed to have been a false positive. The station also reported that the governor was exposed to the virus in both Nov. and Dec. of 2021, and that he isolated from in-person events until testing negative on both occasions.
