Press release from Hopkins Public Schools: April 19, 2022 Hopkins students earned recognition at the Minnesota DECA State Career Development Conference. The competitions simulate real-life business scenarios that test students' academic understanding and skills development. To advance to the national level of competition, students had to finish in the top 4 spots within their events. This year was especially good for the Hopkins team. A total of 250 kids from Minnesota qualify for the international competition. Hopkins had 11 students qualify out of 55, which puts us well above the state average. "It's always good to see the success, but we have kids that just miss making [the international competition] who worked hard too," said Jesse Theirl, Hopkins DECA advisor. Students receiving state recognition include: Kittson Amdall — Integrated Marketing Campaign - Product, 4th Joshua Anderson — Principles of Marketing, 4th Wesley Besikof — Integrated Marketing Campaign - Event, 1st Meredith Burke — Sports and Entertainment Operations Research, 2nd Chloe Buschmann — Personal Financial Literacy, 1st Chloe Buschmann — Sports and Entertainment Operations Research, 2nd Laurel Cox — Sports and Entertainment Operations Research, 2nd Sophia Farrell — Marketing Management Team Decision Making, 1st Kate Nielsen — Marketing Management Team Decision Making, 1st Oscar Wolfe — Principles of Marketing, 3rd Oscar Wolfe — Integrated Marketing Campaign - Event, 1st Sofie Schear — Integrated Marketing Campaign - Product, 4th Bella Stewart — Integrated Marketing Campaign - Product, 4th These students will travel to Atlanta, Georgia from April 23-27 to compete with more than 20,000 top students from around the world at the International Career Development Conference.
